In the first half South Africa struggled to make any impression against a disciplined Uruguay who dominated most of the exchanges. In fact the South Africans didn’t have shot on target the whole 45 minutes. Diego Forlan, who ultimately ended up running the show ,scored a stunner in the 24th. Which was well deserved.

The Bafana bafana were being asked to play above their 83rd World Ranking. Khune continued to play well in the South African goal but the attack was just not functioning against a disciplined defence. Forlan whose father played for Uruguay in the World cup in the 60’ s was running things.

South Africa had their first shot on target in the 68th minute. Following a spell of sustained pressure from the South Americans Suarez was brought down by Kunhe, the goalkeeper. The result was that the keeper was sent off and Forlan scored from the penalty spot in the 80th minute.

Uruguay continued to run the show with many home supporters heading for the exits. Canvani had a number of shots for Uruguay well saved by the new keeper but ultimately in the last minute following a sweeping move, Alvaro Pereira made it 3-0.

Uruguayan keeper, Muslera, had celebrated his birthday in style whilst South Africa trooped off disappointed. Uruguay appear through to the next stage whilst South Africa face a difficult final match with France which they must now win!

This year a new judge, Canadian Howie Mandel (Deal or no Deal), joins celebrity Brits Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan. However, one American is still remaining and it’s Nick Cannon as host of the show.

The show will broadcast performers from all over the country including singers, magicians, comedians, dancers, impressionists, jugglers and ventriloquists. All aiming for a prize of US$ 1,000,000.

Chicken farmer singer Kevin Skinner was the winner of the fourth season of America’s Got Talent, and was awarded with the ultimate prize of US$ 1 Million and performed at Planet Hollywood Casino in Las Vegas last October.

Was it age related? Being a grandfather and retired left me with time on my hands. Time to think, and view the world as a place where the past was always better. The future held no positives but just a number of reasons to see that life was changing and leaving me behind.

Now I’m told in a recent review from Australia that grumpy and grouchy are good! Apparently I’m good at making considered decisions, am less gullible and am likely to be a better communicator.

I’m not sure what the Aussies take in their tea but their research has made me positively beam!

Instead of hiring professional photographers and models, Hypeed is engaging with fashion lovers around the world to develop the magazine features and present the latest trends as worn by real people.

Romain Moyne, co-founder and CTO of Hypeed says: « Online versions of established fashion magazines consist of great pictures, but they all show the same content and have not embraced the power of crowdsourcing which brings creativity, quality content and above all the real people’s trends.” Moyne, who is 22 years old and has started his first company when he was 16, sees Hypeed as the next generation fashion magazine.  “We’re surprised this doesn’t exist yet”, says Moyne.

Hypeed launched in public beta on January 28th after only 4 months of development and private testing, and has already received over 200 contributions with more than 700 photos. People from 26 countries around the world participated in 9 magazine features so far.

“The fashion business is currently undergoing a paradigm shift” according to Nicolas Metzke, co-founder and CEO of Hypeed. He continues, “Iconic designers and super-models live in silos. Consumers get most of their inspiration from other consumers”.

 Metzke has successfully started Internet companies since the year 2000 and now wants to make of Hypeed the ultimate fashion trend tracker.

Word-of-mouth recommendations are extremely powerful for marketing and sales. Brands including France’s Marithé + François Girbaud and young designers such as Yaz from Paris have recognized the potential of Hypeed and have already cooperated in the creation of the magazine fashion features.  Muriel Delamarzelle, Communications Director at Marithé + François Girbaud says: “The fashion business has short business cycles. Fashion labels like ours need to have an open channel to the market if we don’t want to miss a season’s trend. Hypeed is the perfect media to get access to opinion leaders.”

 This is the FIRST TIME EVER a Cathedral will be the site of a fashion event.  Already a historic site, Trinity Cathedral is once again making history as they open their doors to help innocent victims of cancer.

The event will be hosted & covered by GLADYS, a quarterly published, national magazine sold in Barnes & Noble.  This isn’t the first time GLADYS has chosen South Florida.  In November of last year they shot a “Grand Escape to Florida” editorial at Grove Isle Hotel & Spa for their winter issue.

 Miami models Elio P. Soto and Courtney Upshaw made their first national cover debut along with Lauren Standish who was also featured beckoning tourists to sunny South Florida.  Legendary Miami photographer George Contorakes showed the nation just why Florida is so special.  Gowns were provided by Rene Ruiz Couture & jewelry designs by  Jimmy Quiroga & Diamond House.  The Mercy Hospital Foundation Ball held in the Hotel Intercontinental was highlighted, as well as the Young Ambassadors of Mercy, led by Mr. & Mrs. Vince Castro and their Havana Nights Fundraiser at the Grove Isle Hotel & Resort.

Lauren’s Light is a non-profit organization that “helps families with young children in which a parent has been diagnosed with cancer”.  In 2001 Lauren Millin was happily married, raising 3 year old Joshua and was pregnant with her second child.  

A problematic pregnancy resulted in an emergency C-section where it was discovered that Lauren had cancer, and it had spread.  Baby Matthew was born premature but miraculously healthy.  

 During her courageous battle for her life, her family discovered that while there were many resources for the cancer patient, none targeted the unique needs of families with young children.  They started Lauren’s Light in 2002 and testimonials from families all over the country are proof every day that Lauren’s Legacy lives.  

Joining in the fight for these innocent victims of cancer will be a select group of Florida women, including Mrs. Stephanie Sayfie Agaard, Mrs. Paula Fay, Mrs. Lisa Castro, Doctor Stephanie Haridopolos, Mrs. Jennifer Ruiz & Miss Elizabeth Vega.  These Florida women were chosen for their style & grace and commitment to family & community.

The stark contrast between America’s Next Top Model Cycle 13 “shorty” edition and this latest Cycle 14 “amazon” edition is seriously disturbing.  After speaking with Sundai Love, we both concur.  ANTM’s blatant discrimination against petite models was without a doubt proven during the new cycle’s premiere episode.  Among other things, Sundai explained that the producers cancelled plans to take the petite models abroad like they usually do each season.  Instead the last cycle’s destination was Hawaii, so there’s no doubt New Zealand is a step up for the show.

Let us not forget Cover Girl Cosmetics did not fulfill their campaign promises to Sundai Love for winning the Walmart challenge on ANTM.  I wonder if Cover girl will renege on their promises this cycle?

At this point we will refrain from outlining all of the discrepancies that will likely continue.  Although, we can’t resist pointing out that the biggest “in our face” moment on the show was when they moved the “shorty” models into a circus style playhouse complete with toys, miniature furniture, and even candy too!

It’s no coincidence that afterwards the “shorty” models were escorted to their first photo shoot recreating childhood pictures featuring the petite models dressed like babies and clowns.  As we’ve been told by Sundai the girls were “mortified and embarrassed, literally holding back the tears.”  There is no doubt the girls were demeaned by this treatment.  Isn’t it nice how the amazon models this season have been put up in a posh New York penthouse?
